Jews And Their Festivals


Whenever festivals are approaching it has a religious significance. Thus, festivals are a way of celebrating and thanking the supernatural power – god - for his presence in our lives. Among many religions Jews have their own set of holidays and festival and they have their own ways of celebrating them.
There are several Jewish holidays, few among them is related to the Chabad movement of the Jews and are called Chabad Jewish Holidays.
Jewish holidays have fixed terms which are used to describe or refer different categories of holidays purely depending on the type of holiday and its mature.
Chabad is a Hasidic movement and follows the orthodox practice of Judaism. This movement was founded in Russia in 1775. Chabad movement is said to be the world’s largest and renowned Hasidic movements. The headquarters of the said movement was started and taken forward by a Hasidic rebbes dynasty. Chabad movement was basically founded in the 18th century. The said movement with 3,600 institutions across around 70 countries. These institutes running under the Chabad movement help unaffiliated Jews.
Like other Jewish holidays there is a list of Chabad Jewish Holidays as well. A number of days have been specifically chosen to be christened special days owing to the Chabad movement. The important holidays of this movement are chosen to be the liberation dates of the leaders of this movement. When the movement was in full swing the leaders of the movement were imprisoned by the Russian government. Hence, day on which the said imprisoned leader was released were celebrated and were named as “days of liberation” by the movement. Every year three such holidays are celebrated. The holidays are on the day one leader was released from the Russian imprisonment.
Similarly, there are Jewish feasts are organized and holidays on the birthday of leaders of this movement. These birthdays are also celebrated each and every year. The birthdays of several of the movement's leaders are celebrated each year with pomp and show.
Also, the death anniversaries of the leaders of this movement are celebrated. There were several leaders who lost their lives during this movement. The death anniversaries of the leaders and their wives are also celebrated to pay homage to them for their sacrifice. Among other noteworthy holidays of the Chabad movement include the individual incidents of the Chabad rebbes. Hence, most of the holidays of this movement are to commemorate their leaders and their sacrifices.
