Messianic Jewish Bible Institute, or in short MJBI, is solely built to bring into light the statements of faith delivered by Yeshua, the Messiah, and bring all Jewish people in personal relationship and build Jewish ministries all across the globe. Having a deep and engraving faith on Lord Jesus and his preachings, MJBI firmly believes on Jewish feasts and Jewish holiday. Feasts according to Bible means ‘appointed times’. There are seven appointed times allotted by the Lord and each of the seven Jewish Feasts reveal a fascinating story.
The seven Jewish feasts are spread in seven months of the year and each one of it is celebrated with large congregations and observed as Jewish holiday. The first one is Shabbat. Shabbat is a Hebrew word that literally means ceasing or stopping. It refers to the seventh day where the six days work comes to a halt. People are asked to take rest and take part in holy gatherings. The word Shabbat is taken in combination with the word ‘Shalom’ which means peace. So both the word when joined together becomes ‘Shabbat Shalom’ which means ‘may the day of no work be peaceful’.
Hanukkah, is a eight day celebration, meaning dedication. The day refers to festival of lights which is celebrated to commemorate the dedication of Temples that were recovered by the Jewish Forces called Yehuda Meccabee. Till today this Jewish holiday is observed by lighting an oil lamp for eight days. The feast, as described earlier, are the seasons set by God himself. So next in the list is the month Eluh which is said to be the judgment month. Here each person’s bad deeds are weighed against that of good ones and then they are listed in the Book of Life accordingly. Next follows Rosh Hashanah, which falls in the first or second day of Jewish Calender Tishri. In this Jewish holiday, people turn to God and announce something special to happen. Honey forms the special item on the dish this day signifying the sweetness of the New Year. Jewish believe that the Messiah himself became the offering for sin. So if we admit our sin and have deep faith on Lord, then our names can be inscribed in the Book of Life. Jewish Holidays includes ten days of repentance that start from Rosh Hashanah and ends at Yom Kippur. The days in between are observed as the days of repentance where people ask for forgiveness to the one to whom they have wronged. The last day of Jewish Holiday is the Yom Kippur. The day is celebrated basically from sunset to nightfall. It is done to afflict the soul and make it free from past sins. This day, people mend everything correct between them and those whom they had wronged in the past.
