What is Shavuot Jewish Holiday? How Important is it?

Shavuot (Feast of Weeks) recognizes the disclosure of the Torah on Mt. Sinai to the Jewish individuals, and happens on the 50th day after the 49 days of tallying the Omer. This is one of the popular Jew holidays celebrated by the people of the religion. Shavuot is one of the three scripturally based journey occasions known as the shalosh regalim. It is connected with the grain collect in the Torah.

The Torah was given by G‑d to the Jewish individuals on Mount Sinai over 3300 years back. Consistently on the occasion of Shavuot we recharge our acknowledgement of G‑d's blessing, and G‑d "re-gives" the Torah.

The expression Shavuot signifies "weeks." It denote the finishing of the seven-week tallying period in the middle of Passover and Shavuot. The occasion of Shavuot is a two-day occasion, starting at twilight of the fifth of Sivan and enduring until dusk of the seventh of Sivan. (In Israel it is an one-day occasion, finishing at sunset of the sixth of Sivan.)

How is Shavuot celebrated?

Shavuot is seen by refusing work and going to synagogue administrations. A couple of extraordinary readings are recounted: a ceremonial ballad called Akdamut, which underscores the enormity of God; the Book of Ruth, in light of the fact that the story highlights one lady's decision to join the Jewish individuals and acknowledge the Torah; and the Ten Commandments, out of appreciation for the disclosure of the Torah. It is likewise standard to study Torah throughout the night; this practice is called Tikkun Leil Shavuot.

What sorts of sustenances are consumed on Shavuot Jewish Holiday?

Customary occasion dinners on Shavuot revolve around dairy sustenances. Milk is thought to be an image of the Torah, which supports the individuals straightforwardly, as milk accomplishes for an infant. Well known Shavuot nourishments incorporate cheesecake, blintzes, and kugels. Some Sephardic Jews make a seven-layered bread called siete cielos (seven sky), which should speak to Mt. Sinai.

In the nutshell, there are so many holidays celebrated by Jewish and Shavout Jewish holiday is one of them. Shavuot is a Jewish holiday that praises the giving of the Torah to the Jews. The Talmud lets us know that God gave the Ten Commandments to the Jews on the sixth night of the Hebrew month of Sivan. Shavuot dependably falls 50 days after the second night of Passover. The 49 days in the middle of are known as the Omer.

Christian Jew – The Religion and Beliefs From The Eyes Of MJBI

Much has been experimented and speculated over the existence of God. The super human being is beyond perception and exists in our faith and religion. But the aggrandizing of modern lifestyle has somehow spooked off common men from an enduring relation with God and has placed them in a jolted position of no where. Still there are people who believe God can bring people to light from ignorance and lead to salvation! MJBI is one such organization that emerged out with a belief to bring together all Christian Jew people together and uphold the faith on Yeshua with great esteem.

They strongly believe that the Biblical verses hold great potential to lead a person to salvation and that every word was whispered by Yeshua himself. The religion has a plethora of beliefs among which the The Jewish holiday Hanukkah hold a special place as the holidays are supposed to be dictated by the Lord himself and said who ever celebrates these holidays with utmost faith would be included in the good books of Life. Further they believe that on these holidays God spares time for the judgement of human deeds and punishes him accordingly. There holidays are of great significance in Christian Jew Culture.

The Jewish holiday Hanukkah is otherwise known as Festival of lights which is celebrated for eight consecutive days. Hanukkah is specially celebrated to commemorate the rededication of the Holy Temple in Jerusalem to the service of God. A legend that holds special importance in the celebration of Hanukkah is that when the Temple Menorah (the seven branched Candelabrum) was sought to be lighted, it was found that the single cruse of olive oil that somehow escaped the contamination by the Greeks miraculously stayed lighted up for eight days from a single day supply. In honour of this miracle, Hanukkah is still celebrated with great joy and gaiety. The custom further includes eating of latkes – potato pancakes, sufganiot – doughnuts and playing with dreidel. Dreidel refers to the spinning top on which four Hebrew letters are inscribed which are gimmel, nun, hei and sheen which means ‘a great miracle happened there’. Finally, the custom also includes gifting money to children.

MJBI envisages in significantly raising every Jewish community with great faith on the Lord. The portal therefore strives to explain every aspect of Jewish Holidays through examples and history. Led by Rabbis and prophets, MJBI leverages the spreading of message to distant people through their online courses as well.

Messages Behind Jewish Holidays

Given that Jewish beliefs and tradition revolve around the verses of Yeshua, Messianic Jewish Christian follow strict rules laid by Yeshua for holidays. Holidays hold a very prestigious pedestal in Jewish religion. Each holiday is celebrated with rules that speak tons on culture and tradition. Alongside a deep study on Jewish Christian and Gentile Christian and that of Holy Bible’s actual origin, MJBI.org pay special attention in imparting the right message behind each Jewish holiday which are otherwise termed as ‘God’s own appointed holidays’.
The Jewish holidays Sukkot starts with the first holiday that occurs ones in a week. It is termed as Shabbat Shalom that refers to taking a break from daily grind and rest in peace in the name of God. Next is Hannukah, which means ‘festival of lights’. The holiday is celebrated for 8 consecutive days where a candle or lamp is lighted with eight different branches called ‘shamash’. This festival is celebrated to remind the dedication of Temples of Jerusalem. Having said that each festival conveys a special message, the next holiday Rosh Hashanah is celebrated to cleanse each soul from past sins. Otherwise known as Yom Hadin or ‘day of judgment’, this holiday is celebrated for two days where families get together for meal. Honey comprises the special item in the menu which signifies sweetness of the New Year. It is believed that God sits for a judgment on this day measuring both good and bad deeds of every individual.
The holiday that follow is the ‘feast of trumpets and the new Covenant’ where every individual wants his.her name to be inscribed in good book of life. Keeping in mind that Yeshua himself became victim to sin, we shall turn away from sin and have faith in Yeshua so that our names will be inscribed in good books failing which we will be punished by the Lord during the judgement day. The ten days of repentance include Rosh Hashanah, Yom Kippur and some more days in between which are celebrated by asking for forgiveness from people whom we have wronged or have hurt. It is believed that by doing so, our sins will be cleansed we shall be freed of any punishment.
Last among the Jewish holidays Sukkot is Yom Kippur. It is the fasting day. Jewish people on this day wear white clothes and visit synagogue. People visit each other’s house to apologize for past bad deeds against them. This is considered to be the holiest of all holidays which is observed from sunset till sunrise. A ritual bath called mikvah is taken and some people even put several cuts on their body to draw blood symbolizing the flow out of sins that had dwelled in their blood for long.

Jewish Holidays

Messianic Jewish Bible Institute, or in short MJBI, is solely built to bring into light the statements of faith delivered by Yeshua, the Messiah, and bring all Jewish people in personal relationship and build Jewish ministries all across the globe. Having a deep and engraving faith on Lord Jesus and his preachings, MJBI firmly believes on Jewish feasts and Jewish holiday.  Feasts according to Bible means ‘appointed times’. There are seven appointed times allotted by the Lord and each of the seven Jewish Feasts reveal a fascinating story.

The seven Jewish feasts are spread in seven months of the year and each one of it is celebrated with large congregations and observed as Jewish holiday. The first one is Shabbat. Shabbat is a Hebrew word that literally means ceasing or stopping. It refers to the seventh day where the six days work comes to a halt. People are asked to take rest and take part in holy gatherings. The word Shabbat is taken in combination with the word ‘Shalom’ which means peace. So both the word when joined together becomes ‘Shabbat Shalom’ which means ‘may the day of no work be peaceful’.

Hanukkah, is a eight day celebration, meaning dedication. The day refers to festival of lights which is celebrated to commemorate the dedication of Temples that were recovered by the Jewish Forces called Yehuda Meccabee. Till today this Jewish holiday is observed by lighting an oil lamp for eight days. The feast, as described earlier, are the seasons set by God himself. So next in the list is the month Eluh which is said to be the judgment month. Here each person’s bad deeds are weighed against that of good ones and then they are listed in the Book of Life accordingly. Next follows Rosh Hashanah, which falls in the first or second day of Jewish Calender Tishri. In this Jewish holiday, people turn to God and announce something special to happen. Honey forms the special item on the dish this day signifying the sweetness of the New Year. Jewish believe that the Messiah himself became the offering for sin. So if we admit our sin and have deep faith on Lord, then our names can be inscribed in the Book of Life. Jewish Holidays includes ten days of repentance that start from Rosh Hashanah and ends at Yom Kippur. The days in between are observed as the days of repentance where people ask for forgiveness to the one to whom they have wronged. The last day of Jewish Holiday is the Yom Kippur. The day is celebrated basically from sunset to nightfall. It is done to afflict the soul and make it free from past sins. This day, people mend everything correct between them and those whom they had wronged in the past.

Know About Jewish Feasts by JordanDiaz

Jewish Christians are also known as Judeo-Christians and they were the people who were part of the Jewish reform movement which later on became the movement of Christianity. During the early stages of the reform movement, the community of Jewish Christians had the Jews who considered Jesus as their messiah (the savior) and were having the same identity as the Christians at that time. With time Christianity became more and more elaborate and Jewish Christians remained as a section of the Christian community. These people accepted Jesus as Christ and at the same time continued practicing the Jewish customs e.g. they followed the Jewish calendar, observed important Jewish feasts, went to synagogue to worship and circumcision.
There are mainly seven Jewish feasts and the Jewish Christians practice all of them very religiously as per the Jewish custom. For all the feasts, the most common feature is the sacrifice. On the Mount Sinai, God gave the dates of the Jewish feasts to Moses. The calendar of the Jews is based on the phases of moon. Each month in the lunar calendar starts with the new moon. The Jewish feast Pesach or Passover falls on the first full moon of spring. Pesach, Unleavened bread or Chag Hamotzi and First Fruit (Yom habikkurim) falls between March and April. The fourth one Shavuot or Pentecost falls in summer during the late days of May or early days of June. Trumpets, Yom Kippur and Sukkot, the other three feasts of Jewish falls between September to October.
The Jewish feast Passover is the fest of salvation. It is also called feast of freedom because it is celebrated to commemorate the exodus of the Israelites from the slavery of Egypt and how the faithful people were protected by the blood of the lamb. The second feast unleavened bread is observed by the Jews by eating unleavened bread for seven days. This symbolizes the holy walk with the Lord. The period of Shavuot is the period of transition of the Jews from getting freed from slavery in Egypt to the receiving of their holy book the Torah at Mount Siani. This is the time when Yesua dies till the resurrection of Yeshua. Rosh Hashanah is another Jewish feast that falls in autumn and on the first and second days of Tishri, the Jewish Calendar and is observed in September or October. This feast is also called Yom ha Din or the Judgment Day.
